To improve the nation’s ability to respond to chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear threats the Center will support the advanced development, manufacture, testing, and regulatory approval of multiple Medical Countermeasures (MCMs) representing diverse therapeutic classes and originating from multiple biomanufacturing platforms.

The Center’s primary site for process development and manufacturing of non-influenza medical countermeasures and vaccines is the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM). The NCTM is located in College Station, has over 150,000 square feet of space for biopharmaceutical cGMP manufacturing, advanced development, and training. The NCTM employs modular and flexible technologies, infrastructure, and processes to provide solutions for process development, pilot and commercial manufacturing, and emergency surge. The modular nature of the NCTM allows for the manufacture of vaccines and therapeutics in different production platforms to occur side by side in a fully self-contained manner.
