Center for Innovation in Advanced Development & Manufacturing
Saving lives through biotechnology
The Texas A&M Center for Innovation in Advanced Development and Manufacturing (CIADM) forges public-private partnerships to accelerate research, development and manufacturing of life-saving medicines. As a federally-designated biosecurity center, the CIADM also ensures rapid production of vaccines and therapeutics during national emergencies and is required to meet medical needs through its various subcontractors and partners.
Here to Serve
Our highly integrated, expert team and partners are here to provide vital assistance to academic research, commercial and federal government partners. Our team catalyzes research, facilitates development and assists with FDA interactions regarding new medical products. We ensure domestic bio-manufacturing capacity through our subcontracting partner FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies Texas (FDBT). We mentor the next generation of public health professionals through education, training and outreach.
Responding to National Emergencies
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services established the CIADM to respond rapidly to any pandemic or act of bioterrorism. We stand ready to assist in the development, testing and manufacturing of various medical countermeasures for the federal government. We currently oversee the securement of capacity for monthly production of between 20-40 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine candidates as part of The Operation (formerly Operation Warp Speed) at the College Station facility of a CIADM subcontracting partner, FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies Texas (FDBT).
Accelerating Product Availability
The CIADM offers a variety of ways to help commercial partners to accelerate development of novel medical products. Our team has comprehensive expertise from upstream processing through pre-clinical and clinical development to licensure and bulk production. Our team also facilitates access to the vast research assets and expertise of The Texas A&M University System.
Training a Bio-Manufacturing Workforce
Through our training partner, the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM), we ensure the education of bio-manufacturing professionals. Employees receive theoretical and hands-on training in fundamental techniques and emerging technologies. Courses can be customized for specific manufacturing challenges. In recent months we have trained more than 200 FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies Texas (FDBT) workers to produce COVID-19 vaccines for The Operation (formerly Operation Warp Speed).
